Charleston church to receive funds for preservation from the National Park Service

The Charleston church was selected to receive a grant and was designated as a nationally significant historic property.

Cathedral of St. Luke and St. Paul was one of 59 projects to receive funds from The National Park Service’s Save America’s Treasures grants. The money will help fund projects that aim to preserve nationally significant sites and historic collections in 26 states and Washington, DC.

Cathedral of St. Luke and St. Paul will receive $750,000 for stabilization and repair work. The downtown church was built over several years starting in 1811 and finishing in 1816. The church was restored between 1990-91. Learn more about the church’s beginnings.

Applications for next year’s Save America’s Treasures Grant Program open this fall + $25.5 million in funding will be available.
