Hey Charleston, Erika + Callie here. Between the two of us, we get the privilege of sharing local news, events, and conversations with readers daily in Charleston — here and on our socials.

Since it’s the beginning of a new year, this may be a perfect time to formally reintroduce ourselves. Consider this us going in for a fist bump, then switching to a handshake, then settling on a hug.

Meet Erika

Q: What were the last three things you did downtown?

A: Got engaged at Hampton Park over the holidays, had dinner + drinks with my fiancĂ© at ÉlevĂ© Rooftop Restaurant + Lounge at the Grand Bohemian, and did a hard hat tour of The Cooper (waterfront, luxury hotel coming in 2025).

Q: If you could write about one Charleston-specific topic for the rest of your life, what would it be?

A: I would write about the food and drink scene. Charleston has a great one, and there are so many delicious restaurants to enjoy, with new ones popping up daily.

Q: What is your favorite sweet treat in Charleston?

A: I would choose the Butter Pecan Ice Cream from Park Circle Creamery. Moe, the owner, is a Charleston native, and his business has delicious, homemade ice cream + exceptional customer service.

Q: Describe Charleston’s personality in three words.

A: Friendly, historic + pretty

Meet Callie

Q: What were the last three things you did downtown?

A: I had dinner with my fiancĂ© at Church and Union. Pro tip: Church and Union is featured in the upcoming Restaurant Week South Carolina, Enjoyed cocktails at Hotel Bennett’s Fiat Lux + explored shops on King Street with my best friend who was visiting from Columbia (highly recommend). Met my co-editor Erika at The Mills Hotel’s Iron Rose for appetizers and cocktails (the oyster gratin was *chef’s kiss*).

Q: If you could write about one Charleston-specific topic for the rest of your life, what would it be?

A: It would have to be the people. Charlestonians make this city what it is; there are so many stories to unpack and share.

Q: What is your favorite sweet treat in Charleston?

A: Literally anything from Carmella’s, but you can’t go wrong with a cannoli.

Q: Describe Charleston’s personality in three words.

A: Charming, beautiful + kind
