Three members of the local food scene are in the running for a highly coveted James Beard Foundation Award.

Rodney Scott’s BBQ pitmaster + namesake Rodney Scott clinched the nomination for Best Chef in the Southeast region. Among his fellow nominees: Katie Button of Nightbell in Asheville + Mashama Bailey of The Grey in Savannah.

Meanwhile, Meeting Street-staple FIG landed a nomination for Outstanding Wine Program, a category which recognizes a restaurant that sets the standard for excellent wine service. The only other Southern restaurant nominated in this category is New Orleans’ Bacchanal.

The Post & Courier’s Hanna Raskin took away two journalism nominations: one for Local Impactthe category in which she won last year– and one for the Craig Claiborne Distinguished Restaurant Review Award.

Winners of the media awards will be announced Friday, April 27. Winners of the restaurant + chef awards will be announced on Monday, May 7.
