If you’re ready to start your career in aviation, Charleston Southern University’s Bachelor of Science (BS) in Aeronautics gives students a direct, hands-on path into the skies and the National Airspace System.
The program offers several pathways, including:
Pilot/Flight Training
As South Carolina’s only collegiate flight training program, students earn FAA qualifications while completing courses like Private Pilot, Instrument, Commercial, Multi-Engine, and Certified Flight Instructor.
Flight labs are held 2-3 times per week each semester, providing real-world cockpit experience.
Air Traffic Management (ATC)
This FAA-recognized Standard AT-CTI pathway, the first in South Carolina, gives students experience in tower, terminal, and en route operations, covering FAA procedures, safety, and system performance.
Graduates who meet FAA requirements can bypass the FAA Academy Air Traffic Basics course, fast-tracking their way into option-specific initial training at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City.
Other Aeronautics programs include Aerospace Management and Aviation Maintenance Management. Apply online or schedule a campus tour to explore your path.
