Women’s History Month is in full swing, and we’re eager to highlight a historic Charleston school that has inspired generations of women in its 116-year history, including a former First Lady of the United States + a world-ranked tennis athlete and entrepreneur.

Ashley Hall was founded by Mary Vardrine McBee in 1909 with the mission: “To educate girls and young women to be independent, ethically responsible, and prepared to meet the challenges of their world with confidence.”

Note: While the school was exclusively for girls, it now offers education for boys two to five years old.
