Sunday is Mother’s Day and while our Moms deserve way more than we can give, we can at least gift them something that says they are loved + appreciated on their special day.

We rallied this list of gift ideas from a few of our local favorites in case you’re in last-minute mode (maybe the week got away from you, or you have one of those impossible-to-shop-for Moms).

Even if she says, “All I want is time with my children,” we bet she won’t give you any grief for showing up with one of these goodies.

🕯️ Candles + More
We know that candles are a pretty standard gift idea, but who doesn’t enjoy ‘em? Plus, when they’re handcrafted by Charlestonians you really can smell the love all around. Check out The Contents Co. for modern apothecary candles, mists, + sprays, Rewined for a variety of wine-inspired scents, Light of Hope which come with an inspirational prayer card, + Candlefish for their extensive fragrance library. Candlefish also offers BYOB candle making workshops if Mom is the crafty type.

🔨 DIY Gifts
If you want to combine quality time with mom and a handmade gift, take her to a DIY class at AR Workshop in Mount Pleasant. The boutique DIY studio offers wood sign classes, framed sign classes, DIY decor, pallet sign painting, farmhouse style pillow painting, + more. For Mother’s Day AR Workshop is offering a buy two gift cards, get one free deal. Gift cards must be of $65.50+ and purchased by May 12, 2019.

📿 Grit & Grace Oyster Gifts
Grit & Grace Studio has plenty of gifts to help Mom remember the world is her oyster. From oyster shell necklaces to salt & pepper dishes to spice up her summer dining, their collection is sure to help connect Mom to the Lowcountry with grace and elegance. Additionally, the company works hard to preserve the environment through oyster recycling + recycles 10 shells for every gift sold.

💅 Mani-Pedi
Treat Mom (and yourself) to a mani-pedi with clean, non-toxic, fume-free products. The Water Room on East Bay St. has a variety of nail services, a private space, + gifts, such as glass nail files + silk sleep masks to keep Mom feeling beautiful every day. Mylk Bar in Mount Pleasant is pairing their nontoxic services with special Mother’s Day Nontoxic Gift Boxes all wrapped in a pretty package for you to grab and go.

📖 Book Lover Mother
Give Mom the gift of quiet time + a good read from one of our talented Lowcountry authors. Need suggestions? Pick up a copy of Mary Alice Monroe’s book, The Beach House, (which also became a Hallmark Channel Hall of Fame Movie), about two women who discover a special bond during a summer on the ocean. Really build out her library with local favorites, Pat Conroy + Dorothea Benton Frank.

🍫 Chocolate by Charleston
Every Mom should have something sweet for Mother’s Day. Box up some homespun confections from one of our neighborhood chocolatiers. Christophe Artisan Chocolatier-Patissier offers magic bites of hand-painted chocolates + truffles. For a more ‘bean-to-bar’ palate, venture to Cocoa Academic for delicious, globally-mindful treats (or book a $25 tasting).

🛁 Body Products
Mom doesn’t have to go to a spa to feel relaxed and rejuvenated. A gift set from Old Whaling Company is the perfect way for her to feel like she’s on a tropical vacation with bath and body products inspired by the sea. For the tea-lovers, you can surprise Mom with some local tea from the Charleston Tea Plantation, paired with their soothing hand lotions or shower gels which are infused with the local tea.

💆 Spa Day
Let’s face it– the spa is the best place to hide from your children. The Woodhouse Day Spa Charleston offers a plethora of luxury skin, body, + nail services (plus a complimentary glass of champagne), to thank + spoil the Mom in your life. Not sure what Mom would prefer? Go for the Spa Classic– featuring a three-service, head-to-toe experience.

🧘‍♀️ Active
For the active Mom in your life, Charleston Power Yoga (located on King St. + in Mt. Pleasant) is hosting their 2019 Mother’s Day Special – $100 gift card for $75, $50 gift card for $35, 20% off yoga mats + gear, + special logo tanks and totes that say “strong as a mother.

Don’t forget a locally made card from Ink Meets Paper or Slow Poke Press + a fresh bunch of her favorite blooms from a local florist! 💐 Whatever you decide on– be sure to pass on a big hug to Mom from all of us.

Is there a local Mother’s Day gift we left off? Let us know in the comments below so we can keep updating our guide. *Last updated May 6, 2019*
