You might remember the old McCrady’s Tavern + McCrady’s Restaurant — the historic establishments that closed in 2019 and 2020. The time has come to revive the venues — only this time, with a twist.
Martin Sprock, founder + seller of franchises throughout the Lowcountry and owner of half a dozen restaurant brands, has completed a $3.3 million transaction for 155 East Bay St. and 2 Unity Alley with plans to introduce a new restaurant concept coming to the area.

Clarence Foster’s Cookery & Saloon, a Georgia-native restaurant set to celebrate its fiftieth anniversary next year, and the Chameleon Club, a laid-back bar + music venue, will soon occupy the 12,000 sqft establishment.

Clarence Foster’s will be located on the main floor of the establishment + aims to retain the original framework of the building. The Chameleon Club will open its doors in the upstairs space once home to McCrady’s Long Room + Minero restaurant. President George Washington once dined in this space.

The new venues are set to open in early 2022.

The Charleston Commercial real estate team will add this transaction to its portfolio of 19 property acquisitions in downtown Charleston that they have brokered or participated in — totaling $74+ million. The team also brokered the sale of former Shem Creek restaurant R.B.'s Seafood in 2020.
