Want to learn about + experience more of the Lowcountry’s arts scene, but don’t know where to begin? Dive right in by hitting up the North Charleston Arts Fest, which kicks off today.

What is it?

A five-day celebration of arts + culture aimed at showcasing art for the enjoyment of over 30,000 residents + visitors alike. Now in its 36th year, the once single-day event, features more than 100 national, regional and local artists + performers in free + moderately priced performances, workshops, activities, exhibitions + more. This year, the fest was selected as a Top 20 Event by the Southeast Tourism Society for the month of May.

Arts Fest Marsh Jam // Thurs., May 3 | 5:30-9 p.m.

📍 The Bend | 3775 Azalea Dr., North Charleston

An outdoor event with live music (headlined by Ithaca, NY-based Big Mean Sound Machine), food trucks, activities for kids, a beer garden ft. local brews, + live art demos.

Arty Block Party // Fri., May 4 | 5-9 p.m.

📍 Olde Village area of North Charleston (on E. Montague Ave.)

Family-friendly celebration which includes multiple live music performances, art vendors, a kid’s zone ft. hands-on activities + inflatables, and more.

The Arts Fest Expo // Sat., May 5 + Sun., May 6 | 11 a.m.- 5 p.m.

📍 Charleston Area Convention Center | 5000 Coliseum Dr., North Charleston

One of the most popular events, the Expo features four stages to showcase a diverse group of performances. You can also find art exhibits, live demos, vendors, + kid’s activities.
