CHStoday reader Julie H. asked: “I want to shop local products but they do not have plus sizes. I struggle to find clothes for my body type and I do want to support local businesses. I am a very active size 1X and am happy with my body. Are there any local options with more size inclusivity?”

Here are a few suggestions, courtesy of CHStoday readers:

○ “Subtle and Sass is a great local boutique that offers women’s clothing up to size 3XL!”
This brand was recommended by several of our readers. It looks like it’s only available to shop online right now, but the boutique will be popping up at Belle Halle Shopping Center in Mount Pleasant starting later this month. Details on the pop-up here.

"Closet Case Thrift is a wonderful place to shop locally and find plus sizes!”
Closet Case Thrift opened late 2019 at 1801 Reynolds Ave. in North Charleston. The store was recently featured on Buzzfeed specifically for its selection of plus sizes.

“We offer up to size 3xl in our handmade women’s clothing (all made by my mom)! We try & keep a selection of sizes in stock at our shop, Cannonborough Collective (185A St. Philip St.), but all pieces are available to order & pick up or ship on my site thetinytassel.com!”

Not-so-local options

“I know Stitch Fix isn’t considered local shopping, but it’s a company that changed my life because of the conveniency and accuracy. Download the app and fill out their user friendly questions and styling surveys. You won’t be disappointed :) “

Dillard’s has a great selection of plus size for 1x or xxl “
