Warrior Surf Foundation celebrates a decade of supporting veterans

A Lowcountry nonprofit is celebrating a decade of honoring and supporting those who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Warrior Surf Foundation (WSF) is a group that provides surf therapy, yoga, wellness programs, and community to veterans with mental health challenges.

  • The WSF’s surf lessons are held at 3rd St. W. on Folly Beach. The 12-week program and open surfs are available to veterans and their families.
  • In 2023, the CDC accepted WSF into the Veteran Suicide Prevention Evaluation.
  • WSF contributes to the International Surf Therapy Organization, which promotes understanding and advocates excellence in surf therapy.
  • Fun fact: Jimmy Buffett helped raise funds for WSF by donating signed surfboards to their annual surfboard auction and raffle.
