Last weekend, Charleston bid farewell to the beloved Cru Café. We asked our readers to share what they will miss the most about the Pinckney Street eatery.

Many of you highlighted the incredible food, especially the mac and cheese, as well as the cozy ambiance, outdoor seating, and strong sense of community. Here’s what others said they would miss:

  • “Everything. This was one of the first restaurants I went to when I moved here over 14 years ago.” — Alicia G.
  • “The charming Charleston feel. The food was always delicious.” — Susan D.
  • “Everything! My go-to spot for out-of-town guests. It never disappoints.” — Mary C.
  • “The most amazing fried green tomatoes, and dining there with close friends.” — Tory A.
  • “Always one of my favorite spots for the delicious menu, friendly service, and community atmosphere.” — Heather C.
  • “This was the first place my daughter and I had lunch while touring CofC in 2014. It quickly became one of my favorites. I will miss this place.” — Ester P.
  • “Its reliability. When you ordered something you’d had before, it always tasted the same — and was always delicious. I will miss Cru. Thank you for all the lovely meals.” — Megan B.
  • “The memories we made. We celebrated my husband’s 40th birthday in the upstairs dining area. It was one of the best times we’ve had with family and friends, and the food was amazing!” — Sarah + Tom K.
