Charleston and its surrounding areas are filled with amazing streets, districts, and neighborhoods. It’s easy to get stuck in your own corner of town, but we’re here to remind you to explore different parts of the Holy City — especially those you may not be as familiar with.
In our Where to Wander series, we’ll continue to highlight local areas and spots for you to explore and call out a few of our favorite neighborhood businesses to support. In this edition, we’re taking a closer look at Park Circle. Keep reading for our guide on how to spend a day in this North Charleston neighborhood.
First, brunch
Start your morning at The Junction Kitchen & Provisions. This eclectic spot offers all-day breakfast, tacos, sandwiches, and a self-serve coffee bar. City Editor Erika here — my go-to meal is the Mexican Hash... thank me later.
Outdoor activities
After brunch, get your steps in at Quarterman Park, also known as the “Duck Park.” It’s a peaceful spot with a pond, where you can enjoy viewing different birds. Or, if you’re looking to stretch your legs more, head over to the walking trails at Park Circle Reimagined, the world’s largest inclusive playground. Bonus points if you’re bringing kiddos along — they’ll have a blast at this award-winning playground. Also, don’t miss the Park Circle Disc Golf course, which features 18 holes and is free to play.
Shopping and browsing
Head to Itinerant Literate Bookshop to explore a great selection of reads. If vinyl is more your style, Gray Cat Music is the place to go.
Looking for furniture? Check out Neighborly. Want some unique coastal apparel or prints? Black Octopus Mercantile has you covered and they’ve even worked with the crew of “Outer Banks” and had merchandise featured in the show. Also, don’t miss The Station, a vibrant marketplace that features over 60 local makers and artists.
Local art
Ready for some art? Visit the Park Circle Arts Gallery, where admission is always free. The gallery rotates exhibitions monthly and showcases local and regional artists in various mediums.
Dinner and drinks
As evening approaches, it’s time for dinner. Head to the newly relocated Jackrabbit Filly, now located right off Park Circle’s main strip. Led by Chef Shuai Wang, a 2025 SC Chef Ambassador and who is recently featured on” Top Chef, this eatery serves up modern Chinese-American cuisine with a twist.
If you’re in the mood for something else, other great dining options include LoLA, Madra Rua Irish Pub, and EVO Pizzeria.
For dessert, make your way to Park Circle Creamery. Known for its rich, homemade flavors, they serve up a variety of treats like blueberry cheesecake, vanilla praline, and cookies ‘n cream.
End your day with drinks. Head to Sissy Bar for a cocktail or Stem and Skins for wine, or if you prefer beer, check out Commonhouse Aleworks.
And that’s not even all — there’s so much more to explore in Park Circle, so you’ll definitely need to come back for another visit.
