The Nickel, a boutique hotel, now calls King Street home

The newly opened King Street boutique hotel is also home to a new rooftop lounge set to open this summer.

The focus of the photo is a long hallway with checkered floors, the space has green walls and is dimly lit.

This moody + dim lit lobby looks like a cozy start to a staycation.

The Nickel, a new boutique hotel, has opened in the former Dixie Furniture building on King Street. The five-story 50-room hotel — inspired by the city’s history, style, and ornate ironwork — also features an interior courtyard, a library, and private event space, a cocktail bar, and a rooftop lounge. Fun fact: The Nickel Hotel was named for the French expression: “C’est Nickel,” which means “it’s impeccable.”

This cozy, upscale bar features a curved marble counter, round stone tables, plush seating, and warm ambient lighting. A modern fireplace and vintage-inspired decor create a refined, intimate atmosphere.

You can find us in the corner sipping a King St. Kiss.

Now Open
Bar Daniel is now softly open to the public. Stop by the intimate space for drinks — light bites roll out today, July 23. The bar is named after Daniel Cannon, the carpenter who founded Cannonborough – the neighborhood the hotel calls home.

A charming brick courtyard features wrought-iron balconies, lush greenery, and cozy wicker seating. At its center, a tiered fountain adds elegance and serenity to this sunlit, European-inspired oasis.

Locals and guests can enjoy drinks and snacks indoors at Bar Daniel or in the connecting lush interior courtyard.

The menu features signature cocktails like the King St. Kiss — which is a vodka drink with pomegranate and prosecco — plus a selection of snacks, like a Croque Monsieur Provencal featuring rosemary ham, gruyere, and roasted tomatoes.

Coming Soon
Rosemary Rose, a public rooftop bar and lounge, is set to open later this summer. We’re looking forward to soaking in the views overlooking the Holy City and the Ravenel Bridge, while enjoying small dishes with a light spritz + fresh juice.
